Ongoing tensions between the U.S. and Russia have brought negotiations on nuclear issues to a standstill. U.S. plans for a missile defense shield in Europe is a particularly contentious issue. Making progress on the missile defense issue could be the key to promoting strategic stability between the two nuclear powers.

About the Speaker:
The Honorable Ellen Tauscher currently serves as Senior Public Policy Advisor to Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC as well as Vice-Chair of the Atlantic Council’s Brent Scowcroft Center on International Security. Ms. Tauscher previously served under the Obama Administration as Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security as well as Special Envoy for Strategic Stability and Missile Defense.
In addition to her illustrious career in public service, Ms. Tauscher worked on Wall Street for 14 years where she became one of the first women to become a member of the New York Stock Exchange.
