National Defense LogoEric Beidel of National Defense provides a writeup on ASP’s recent event on the strategic framework and effects of U.S. drone policy.  Focusing on the lack of empirical evidence in the current discourse on drones, the August 20th event brought together three experts in a discussion moderated by ASP Fellow Joshua Foust, who recently published a paper, “The Strategic Context of Lethal Drones,” along with Ashley Boyle.

“Do drone strikes — such as those handled covertly by the CIA in Pakistan, Yemen and Somalia — reduce the threat posed by terrorists?

It’s anyone’s guess, experts said during an Aug. 20 panel discussion hosted by the American Security Project at its Washington, D.C., office.”
