LtGen John Castellaw USMC (Ret.), an ASP Board Member, was interviewed on “The Jim Bohannon Show,” a radio show that is heard on over 300 affiliate radio stations. Gen. Castellaw discussed the strategic benefits that the military can achieve through investments in alternative fuels. By using biofuels in the U.S. military’s operations, the Pentagon’s exposure to oil price volatility can be mitigated. The military’s total dependence on oil for fueling land, sea, and air operations presents a strategic threat to military readiness. Gen. Castellaw also noted that the Department of Defense has been instrumental in developing new industries in the past through its procurement program.
