Sharif Says He Wants Serious Peace Talks

Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that he wants to hold serious peace talks with India.  Of particular concern to Mr. Sharif is ending the arms race between the two countries, which he described as unfortunate.

Russia has dropped the piracy charges against 30 people involved in a Greenpeace protest against Arctic oil drilling.   Instead, the Greenpeace activists will be charged with hooliganism, which has a maximum jail sentence of 7 years.

Iran’s Conservatives Call for a Boycott
