During the Climate Week NYC opening Day, US Secretary of State, John Kerry delivered the Keynote address to discuss how climate change can affect non-environmental issues, such as national security.

Secretary Kerry said:

It costs more to ignore climate change than to deal with it. Too often it is put into an ‘environmental’ box, but it is an economy opportunity, and health and international security challenge.

Climate Week NYC focused on key climate themes of finance, security and innovation to achieve a vibrant, low carbon economy.

The event was held by The Climate Group on September 22, 2014 at the Morgan Library and Museum in New York City. ASP CEO Brigadier General Stephen Cheney also appeared as a panelist in “Climate conversation: National security and climate change.”
