In a recent op-ed on Globalist.com, former Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs and ASP Consensus Member Tara Sonenshine re-framed the ongoing Ebola crisis as a challenge and an opportunity for public diplomacy.

Acknowledging the contentious debate surrounding foreign aid, Sonenshine argued Ebola “makes the case.” Diseases do not see borders as barriers and the international community has a shared interest in its containment and eradication. “It’s a reason to push countries to help one another face epidemics.”

“Ebola shows that foreign policy is not “foreign.” When it comes to international issues, we are all in it together.”
